Club Membership Year

The club membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
This is the same as the Mountaineering Scotland (MS) membership year for affiliated clubs, which simplifies our affiliation to MS.

Annual JMCS subscription rates for 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027

There are two subscription rates, depending on whether or not you are already a member of MS (either as an individual or as a member of another club affiliated to MS) as follows.

Notes:

• The MS Affiliated Club Membership Subscription for 1 April 2026 – 31 March 2027 is £38.75
• The Full JMCS Subscription consists of the Reduced JMCS Subscription (which we keep) plus the MS Subscription (which we pay to MS).
  That is: £12.00 + £38.75 = £40.75
• In other words, we keep £12.00 from each member, and the rest goes to MS!
• Note: It is a condition of the JMCS affiliation to MS (and hence our insurance policy with MS) that all JMCS members must be affiliated to MS, either via us or some other club, or individually.
  So, you cannot just decide that you don’t want to be in MS and pay us the reduced rate without being a member of MS some other way.

Subscription rates for new members who join part way through the year

Subs for new members joining part way through the year are reduced on a pro-rata basis, depending on the month of joining.

Note: these rates are only for new members – current members do not get a discount for paying late!
